This past week there was a regular rehearsal on Tuesday, a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, a concert on Friday and one on Saturday as well as a regular rehearsal with a different choir on Saturday.
And on Monday I donated blood.
My voice actually feels pretty good. It’s just another muscle that responds well to regular workouts I suppose.
We saw CATS at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre this past Thursday. Those tunes are as familiar to me now as they were 25 years ago. However, I’ve learned a lot about singing and listening to singers in the last 25 years. Some of the soloists in the cast sang flat on occasion, one painfully (to me) so. The dancing, however, was great. We sat 2 rows back of the stage so we had a great view of the goings on.
The only problem was that I had booked this night out last fall. My wife didn’t have a full-time teaching job, nor did she need every evening to make lesson plans back then. She survived though we’ve been kind of tired this weekend.
I wrote an ISO9000:2000 internal audit report which is basically a long table of section numbers from the standard, brief descriptions, a rating and my observations; especially if I rated the section UNSatisfactory. I used LATEX (LaTeX) to typeset the report and found that the \afterpage macro doesn’t work in \longtable. I usually use something like this on the title page:
\lhead{}\chead{}\rhead{\putlogo}
\afterpage{\chead{\MyTitle}}
After some head-scratching I came up with the following using the \ifthenelse macro to achieve the same effect. Now the header logic is inside the header itself.
\lhead{}\chead{%
\ifthenelse{\equal{1}{\thepage}}
{}
{\MyTitle}}\rhead{\putlogo}
Today I’m triple the age I was in 1972.
